Governments across Australia are now considering the introduction of Organ and Tissue Donation registration being made possible by Service Apps used by over 10 Million Australians.
NSW Customer Service Minister, Victor Dominello raised the idea of providing 5.6 million people in NSW who regularly interact with the Service NSW App the ability to register as organ donors using the App.
At the first meeting of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Organ & Tissue Donation and Transplant Awareness Group, Mr Dominello met with Rob Manning, Michael Gremmo, as well as Justin Clancy MP and staff from the minster's office and explained how the App could provide important information about Next of Kin Consent, the importance of telling family and loved ones about your decision to register to one day be an organ donor by passing on the gift of life.
With the ability to reach 5.6 million people quickly, initiating important lifesaving conversations, the potential immediate positive impact on next of kin consent rates in NSW would be life saving.
Now investigations have started with Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania as to whether the same approach can be applied to increase awareness amongst the community using the apps and online services offered to people in their states.
