There is no greater contribution than to selflessly save the lives of strangers, especially when the cost of doing so also comes with the highest price.

Families who lost a loved one and who made it possible for strangers to live are heroes.

We need to recognise that in the darkest moments of losing their own loved ones the families of the more than 500 deceased organ donors in 2023 found the love, strength and compassion to give their consent for that personโ€™s organs to be donated to save the lives of strangers.

The community and the country will be forever grateful for your gift.

Below are just 10 such heroes.

I call on the Assistant Minister Gerardine (Ged) Kearney to release the full list of Australian Donor Heroes and acknowledge their families and the significant contributions each life made.
