BREAKING NEWS

The federal government has introduced legislation to amend the Organ and Tissue Authority act to enable the Australian Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation Authority (OTA), DonateLife agencies, grant recipients and “authorised family members” to publish, disseminate or disclose information about deceased organ or tissue donors or recipients without breaching law of a state or territory.

When passed this will ensure that Donors Heroes can be openly recognised and honoured as heroes.

This is big for families in WA, South Australiaand the Northern Territory and now makes it possible to properly recognise the heroic gift of life the families of deceased donors have made.

It is time in 2023 for the States and territories to harmonise their legislation and bring Organ And Tissue Donation into the 21st Century.
